Insecurity in North West geo-political zone of Nigeria has assumed a dangerous dimension with increase in kidnapping, armed robbery/banditry, cattle rustling, etc. thereby creating serious security challenges in the already volatile region known for high level of ethnoreligious and farmers/herders’ crises. Nigerian Government has been grappling with ethnicand religious strife in the region which has claimed tens of thousands of lives in sectarian and intercommunal clashes. The current insecurity in the geo-political zone further compounds internal security challenges confronting Nigeria in the 21st century.
